I just can't get over this image. It's so completely unlike what the Falls are like today. This is another Nowack stereoview. The text on the mount reads: "Scenery of Minnesota", and "Published by M. Nowack.", and "the name of this view is underlined on the back."

This picture was taken the same day as the previous image, also by Nowack.

The whole area between the Falls and where Hiawatha Avenue runs today was completely fenced in.

Right up to the edge of the Falls. This wasn't for safety as much as to establish ownership. Maybe so many pictures were taken from the south edge of the Falls, not because it was a good viewing spot, but because some farmer would run you off his land on the other side.

Quite an ice storm had come through recently. These trees were shredded by it.

The back of this view. The text is nearly identical to the previous page; you can read it there. The only change is that Nowack advertises his "Chromos, Frames and Indian Curiosities"" in the line near the top. In the previous picture the line went to "Frames, Indian Curiosities, Etc." We have established what "Etc." referred to.

"6 miles from Minneapolis, Minn."

"Minnehaha Falls- Winter."

The name of this view is underlined on the back.
