Karen's graphic: "Stereoviews: the Falls in Depth"

Be warned, or maybe elated: this presentation of Minnehaha Falls stereoviews has a lot of pictures. I have tried to keep the file sizes small, but these pages may load slowly. If you are at all keen on this sort of thing, I think it will be worth the wait.

The stereoviews are sorted by categories I made up. (Just try inventing meaningful sort criteria for hundreds of pictures, all of the same subject!) The images either fit a category or slide down to the next, starting at the top. For example, if an image has people in it, it is in the first group, no matter what other descriptors apply to it.

Use the "next image" link to view the pictures in a rough chronological sequence or click on any thumbnail picture below and jump to a page with all the details and discussion.

Stereoviews looking northwest from the south side of the Falls:
The best view has always been from the south side, and platforms have been built to get people right up close.
The current viewing area is farther from the water than a couple of the old ones were.

The Rustic Bridges: There have been at least five bridges just below the Falls previous to the current one. You can see these vanished structures here.

You're not supposed to climb around behind the Falls, but people always have and they always will.
